DIY lip scrub

October has arrived and that means lower temperatures, leaves turning brown and putting on warmer clothes. Not only do you need to take good care of yourself by putting on warmer clothes, you also need to take good care of yourself by giving your body a little extra care. That's why I'm going to post a weekly DIY on the blog to get you through the winter. This week I'm going to give you a recipe to make the perfect lip scrub.

When the weather is changing, I always notice that the condition op my lips is getting worse, especially in the fall or when it's really cold. Since I'm living in Chicagoland, I have a real problem when I'm not taking good care of my lips because the sentence freezing cold is an understatement in Chicago. That's why I started to use this scrub once a week which make my lips feel so smooth and soft. It's super easy, fast and you don't need fancy ingredients.

What you need:
  • 1 tablespoon of coconut oil
  • 1 tablespoon of raw honey
  • a dash of cinnamon powder
  • 2 teaspoons of brown sugar

Take a little jar and put the two tablespoons of coconut oil in it. You dont want the coconut oil too hard, but you also dont want it to be too oily. When your coconut oil is too hard, put it in a jar and then in a sink with boiled water for 2-3 minutes. When its too oily, just put it in the fridge for 10-15 minutes. You want the coconut oil solid enough to scoop up but soft enough for a spoon to dig in.

Add the cinnamon powder and the brown sugar to the mixture and once again, mix it until it looks like thick substance again. Smells amazing right?

Put the substance in a bowl and let it stand at room temperature for 10 to 15 minutes. Apply it on your lips and circulate it for a good 1-2 minutes. Rinse with warm water and apply lip balm.

When you save the lip scrub in the refrigerator, it will last for a good 1,5- 2 weeks. Enjoy your smooth and soft lips!

  1. This looks wonderful! I don't think I'd be able to resist eating it if I were to put it on my lips, haha.
